The client bot and the salon bot - why there are two and which one you need

BeeSection has two different Telegram bots, and they get confused all the time. One is ours, shared across the whole platform, and it reminds clients about their visits. The other is yours, carrying the salon's name, and it is for conversations. Who needs which, and why they cannot be merged.

"We connected a bot and the reminders still come from some BeeSection" - and the opposite: "clients get reminders but we cannot write to them in Telegram". Both cases are the same thing: there are two bots, and they do different jobs.

The client bot: ours, works straight away

This is the platform's bot. There is one bot for all salons; its token lives with us, and there is nothing to connect - it is already working in your account.

The client subscribes themselves: their booking page has a "Remind me in Telegram" button. It opens the bot, the client presses Start, and from then on receives reminders about visits to that salon. You cannot subscribe a client on their behalf, and that is a matter of principle: it would be messaging without consent.

Only service messages go through this bot - visit reminders and booking confirmations. It holds no conversations: to anything other than its commands it replies that it only sends reminders and asks the person to call the salon. Marketing campaigns do not go through it either.

The client sees the salon's name in the text of the message, while the sender is shared. That is honest: the person subscribed to a service's reminders, they did not start a conversation with their specialist.

The /stop command unsubscribes from the reminders of all salons at once. A person is turning reminders off, not one particular specialist, and they are not obliged to remember how many there were.

The salon bot: yours, for conversations

This is an integration. You create a bot in BotFather, paste the token into settings, and the salon gets its own channel under its own name. The step-by-step guide is in the article about connecting your own bot.

What it adds beyond reminders:

  • conversations with clients in the chats section, attached to the client card;
  • campaigns under the salon's name;
  • staff notifications - a specialist links their own Telegram to the bot and receives events according to your rules;
  • reminders under the salon's name, if you add it to the list of reminder channels.

It only costs in the sense of the plan: the chats section is part of the Salon plan. Telegram itself charges nothing.

Why they were not merged

Reminders are needed by everyone, including a specialist working alone. If they required a bot of your own, that specialist would abandon the setup on step two - rightly so: they came to take bookings, not to administer bots. So the reminder channel works out of the box and asks for nothing.

Conversations are the opposite. A client writing to a salon should see the salon's name rather than the service's, or the exchange looks strange. Only a bot created by the salon can carry that name.

One bot cannot be both "shared, so there is nothing to set up" and "yours, so it carries your name". Hence two.

Which one you need

  • Working alone and reminders are all you need. Connect nothing. Ask clients to press the button on their booking page.
  • Clients write to you in Telegram and it gets lost. Connect your own bot: the conversations gather in the CRM.
  • You want campaigns under the salon's name. Your own bot; there is no other option.
  • Specialists should get notifications in Telegram. Your own bot - or push notifications on the phone, which work without any bot at all and have an article of their own.

And one combination that works best: your own bot for conversations and campaigns, with reminders left to the platform bot. A client subscribed to both gets the reminder through the first channel that works, and the order is set in the reminder settings.
