SMS via a provider: connecting TurboSMS, Zadarma or Kyivstar and checking that SMS arrive

For reminders and confirmations to go out by SMS automatically you need a provider. Step by step for TurboSMS, Zadarma and Kyivstar Business, plus a check that goes through every step up to a test SMS to your number.

SMS is not our service. The salon connects its own provider and pays it directly; BeeSection only passes the text along. So an SMS costs what the provider charges, with no markup from us.

No provider yet? You can send SMS from your own phone: see “Notify the client about a booking”.

Where it is in the CRM

  • Guides and the check: “Settings → Reminders”, the “SMS via a provider” block.
  • Provider keys: “Settings → Integrations”.
  • Reminder channels: “Settings → Reminders”, the “How to remind” block.

Which provider

  • TurboSMS — the easiest start in Ukraine. Sign up, top up, alpha name.
  • Zadarma — if your telephony is already there: SMS are charged from the same balance.
  • Kyivstar Business — if you already have an SMS contract.

TurboSMS, step by step

  1. Sign up at turbosms.ua and top up the balance.
  2. Order an alpha name — the sender name the client sees, e.g. EasyPeasy. Operators block SMS without a registered name. Approval takes a few days, so start with this.
  3. In your TurboSMS account open the API section and copy the token.
  4. In BeeSection: “Settings → Reminders → SMS via a provider → Connect in BeeSection”. The TurboSMS card opens. Paste the token and the alpha name exactly as in TurboSMS, and save.
  5. Go back to reminders and run the check with your number (below).
  6. Add SMS to the reminder channels and press “Save”.

Zadarma

  1. Make sure your Zadarma balance is positive.
  2. In the account settings find the API keys — Key and Secret.
  3. If you registered a sender name in Zadarma, have it ready. Without it the SMS comes from Zadarma's default sender.
  4. In BeeSection open the Zadarma SMS card and paste Key, Secret and sender.
  5. Check and channels — as for TurboSMS.

Kyivstar Business

  1. Get an SMS API token and a registered alpha name from Kyivstar Business.
  2. In BeeSection open the Kyivstar SMS card and paste the token and alpha name.
  3. The check shows whether the alpha name is active. Kyivstar reports this through its API; with other providers only a test SMS tells.

The check: why SMS don't arrive

“Connection successful” in the integration card means one thing: the provider accepted the key. SMS can still fail for other reasons. So the check in reminders goes step by step and reports each one:

  1. The provider is connected and on. Sometimes the integration is added but turned off.
  2. Required fields. Token, alpha name.
  3. The key. The provider accepts it.
  4. Balance. Zero means no SMS. Below 20 UAH is a warning to top up in advance.
  5. Sender name. Active, pending approval or rejected.
  6. Test SMS. Enter your number and a real SMS arrives. Only that proves delivery works. Tests are billed by the provider, so there are at most five per hour.
  7. SMS is in the reminder channels. The most annoying cause of silence: the provider is connected, but SMS isn't in the channel list.
  8. Errors over 30 days. How many SMS went out, how many failed, and the provider's last error text.

After a test SMS, the “Delivery status” button asks the provider whether the message was delivered, if the provider supports it.

Where to put SMS in the channel list

A reminder goes through the first channel that works. Put SMS at the end of the list: the Telegram bot and email are free and go first, and paid SMS reaches only those you can't reach otherwise. The “Add SMS to reminder channels” button in the check puts it exactly there. Don't forget to press “Save”.

Who sees the check: the owner and those allowed to manage integrations. A test SMS costs the salon money, so other staff don't get this button.
